Our Answers to Your Frequently Asked Questions
If
Mt. Holiday can not make it as a ski hill or the land gets sold,
can I be assured it will never be developed?
Yes. The development
rights have deeded away and the property will be an open space recreation
areas in perpetuity, no matter who owns it.
Why
does the organization need so much money?
The
campaign funds are targeted to three major budget items including land procurement,
building and grounds improvements and a rainy day (a.k.a. no snow) fund.
If
you could give one word that encapsulates the mission of the organization, what
would it be?
Children
- this entire project is about providing affordable ski services to the youth
of the community. Why
do you think Mt. Holiday can survive given the plight of other area ski hills?
The
business plan has been carefully crafted based on the results from Mt. Holiday's
previous seasons. The big change will be the elimination of debt service. Because
the property will be purchased outright, all income can be used to fund operations
not service debt. Also critical is the resort's federal nonprofit status which
means no federal income taxes. Contribute
