For seven decades, Mt. Holiday has been a beloved locale for year-round outdoor recreation and community gatherings alike. The history of the hill begins in 1949 when a group of residents endeavored to construct a ski run on state-owned land. Volunteers and donations helped bring this vision to fruition. In 2002 with the threat of development looming a group of concerned residents purchased the forty-five-acre property and placed it into a conservation easement. In addition to preserving the land in perpetuity, the group also turned the resort into a 501 (C) (3) non-profit.
Today, after extensive programming expansion and modest structural improvements, Mt. Holiday is a hub of a vibrant community and economic activity. After years of financial prudence and resourcefulness, Mt. Holiday is embarking on a Capital Campaign to invest in the infrastructure upgrades that will position the resort to stay financially competitive and expand its future recreational offerings for generations to come.
