Turn the Lost Season into Your Reason to Give
The unseasonably warm 2023-2024 snow sports season was nothing short of a doozy. Without appropriate equipment and technology to react to weather fluctuations, The Hill struggled to open our slopes this year. We weren’t alone in our struggles. Statewide, the snowsports and hospitality sectors experienced record low revenues during what is now being referenced in the industry as the “Lost Season.”
In addition to marked decline in programming and revenues, we lost something else this winter: YOU, our Hill Fam. Yep, Hill Fam, we missed you. We missed the familiar sights and sounds of our wisecracking adult race leaguers, intrepid Basecampers test driving new terrain park skills with the safety of crash pad, HRT coaches and families setting up a course on an early Sunday morning, Kiwanis ski and snowboard kiddos warming up with lodge cocoa, and our neighbors in Holiday Hills. We missed the community, conversations, and connections that unfold in the historic lodge. These losses offered lessons and we’re working with an unwavering focus to make infrastructure investments in the next six months that will help us prepare for warmer, and shorter winters.
We need you, Hill Fam. Help us keep the magic of winter and year round outdoor recreation alive for everyone! When you donate to Mt. Holiday today you are supporting the critical infrastructure investments that will unfold over the next six months on our 45-acre campus. And, if you aren’t excited about infrastructure, and don’t like to hear about conduit, water pumps, and electricity, blah, blah, just remember what these features will support: community. Another 75 years of Mt. Holiday strengthening, connecting, and supporting our community through 12-months of affordable outdoor recreation.

Mike Summers Memorial Fund
Our son Mike was so full of love. He was the guy always willing to help a friend or family member, his kindness had no limits. Mike’s smile lit up the room. When he was 14 a friend offered him a pill. A local doctor was selling scripts for opioids. This devil killed so many. For 20 years he battled, most of the time no one would know, but fentanyl changed the game. The cleaner his body got the more deadly it became. In the end it was Kratom which is a legal substance that was laced with fentanyl that took him from us. We will never know the details of his last moments. We do know that we do not want our loss to be yours.
In Mikes honor we started the Mike Summers Memorial Fund. Mike was a lover of the outdoors and of seeing kids smile, one hundred percent of the monies collected are dedicated to helping kids who do not have the means to get on the slopes. The funds cover tickets, lessons, equipment rental and even ski gear of needed. Our family wishes to thank you for helping to give kids the joy of learning a new sport, and of being outdoors in a safe environment. It would make Mike so very happy to pass his love along.
No one is exempt from this loss; we are a strong and loving family. Do not think it won’t happen to you. Please educate yourselves and your children about this danger that is in our community.
